Raw Materials: Supporting the Earth That Gives Us So Much Food

From using our own raw materials to reusing the materials we come across everyday, we're finding more and more ways to make the world of horses and the modern earth increasingly healthy and organic.

Please join us in our efforts to make the earth a better place for horses and horsemen alike.

#1 - COMPOST GARDENS

All excess whole food materials from our production runs are put to use in compost gardens.

After every run of Thera Cell cookies, we're left with a nice pile of organic whole food materials for composting.

Since our products are whole food their excess breaks down quickly and easily without emitting any harmful greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere or harmful toxins into the ground. This is also true of the manure produced by horses that are eating pure whole food diets.

Once we've gathered a healthy amount of compost material, we allow it to breakdown enough to mix with soil.
With soil, the compost serves as a growing medium that holds moisture and soluble minerals, providing the support and nutrients in which plants can flourish.

According to the EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency), compost can produce great benefits including:

  • Suppress plant diseases and pests.
  • Reduce or eliminate the need for chemical fertilizers.
  • Promote higher yields of agricultural crops.
  • Facilitate reforestation, wetlands restoration, and habitat revitalization efforts by amending contaminated, compacted, and marginal soils.
  • Cost-effectively remediate soils contaminated by hazardous waste.
  • Remove solids, oil, grease, and heavy metals from stormwater runoff.
  • Capture and destroy 99.6 percent of industrial volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) in contaminated air.
  • Provide cost savings of at least 50 percent over conventional soil, water, and air pollution remediation technologies, where applicable.
